The Sphere of Influence.

It’s nice to swallow words of persuasion, of creative ideas, and of funny experiences from bloggers. The ever-constant varieties of posts written by people with different lives; a striving mother, a college drop-out guy, a journalist, a High School student. These people I met before.  It has been one year of blogging and the way I see my blog before and after, I somehow enjoyed every single day of my Internet life; the life wherein you turn on your computer after school and rant about the things that pissed you off, or even share your Hittite lessons, or even copy-paste the lyrics of your favorite song!

Yes, I shamefully admit that I did that in the past (maybe once or twice).

I have read Jamaela’s post about ignorance, and Still’s post about being a roughed-up lady (in a slight way). And somehow, their posts ignited my sense of theoretical thinking. And my theory is that we, bloggers, evolve. We depend on other blogposts: we read – learning from their experiences, adapting their writing skills, or even getting ideas for a new post. We influence each other, and day by day – we grow better. We write better.

Wala lang! Nagmamarunong lang.

With regards to my past blog, I’ve read it a while ago. I’ve read my December 27, 2005 post and it was about me and my friends going to Alex’s (a guy, not a girl) house – I could still remember their Mazda 3, their house full of condiments but no food, his offline Ragnarok installed in his laptop, and his bathroom-sized bedroom that only 5 or 6 people could fit in. And that was also the day where I splurged our Greenwich pizza with hot sauce!

The way I see it, it’s not a year ago. It’s like yesterday, but according to the calendar – it was one year ago. And it was. [Haha, ang kulet.] Well, I couldn’t blame humans for deriving a calendar. Though I’ve been asking myself today the question – why is a hotdog shaped like a phallus? Uhh, not a phallus. More decent.

Uhh, why is a hotdog shaped like that? And it’s red! I just wished it was blue. Or orange. Why red? And why that shape? They should’ve made square-shaped hotdogs, or star-shaped. Or free-form, like those hamburgers.

Forgive my curiosity. Just please answer my question.

Wait, is that ringing sound from our phone downstairs?

  1. This definitely should be one of my favorite posts from you. :P
We do evolve, from writing LiKe tHiS in blogs or whenever we read our previous posts it gives us a certain feeling. I definitely agree, that we write better.

Dude it’s great I’m sharing the same sentiments about how time is effing flying so fast. I still think last Christmas 2005 was yesterday and I just jumped to the next one.

I’ve been asking myself a question today too. Hahaha. Like who invented the comb?

About this question of yours, well I don’t know, why don’t you ask the Germans, isn’t that where the hotdogs came from? I think. Another question is that, why are they called HOTDOGS? Hahaha.

This is turning out to be a long comment. :P

  2. Oo nga no? Ba’t nga naman hotdog. -_-

Thanks for the long comment!! :) Appreciated. :d

  3. hmm. i haven’t thought about that. hahaha! bakit nga ba? :]

  4. Right about that. Bloggers do evolve… every waking day of our life. :) And reading about another person’s post… either inspires you.. or would make you think. Sometimes, you would even imagine.. how it feels like to be in their shoes.

Anyhow.. about hotdogs? I have this book entitled “How did they do that?” and one part is about hotdogs. Im not sure if this answers your question.. but it sure answers Juice’s question.

It was originally called a “frank” or a “wiener” in Europe. It was then introduced to America as a “frank”. At the New York Polo Grounds… on cold days.. they would shout..

“Red hots! Get your red-hot-dachshund sausages!” (* Dachshund was a name applied to numerous German things way back*)

A sports humorist named Tad Dorgan was in a sports box one particular game.. and hearing the vendors inspired a new cartoon.

He sketched a barking dachshund in a roll.. and not knowing how to spell dachshund called it a HOT DOG.. and thus the name stuck.”

  5. ok, tina nailed the history of hotdogs.

“why is a hotdog shaped like that? And it’s red! I just wished it was blue. Or orange. Why red? And why that shape? They should’ve made square-shaped hotdogs, or star-shaped. Or free-form, like those hamburgers.”

i think hotdoge were shaped in such a manner taht could be easily cut and eat by the consumers.

red, mainly because red is an appetizing color. i am talking about something psychologically related here. =)
the red color somehow induces hunger and makes soemthing look very appealing. notice the dominant color of some famous fast food chains in the country like jollibee, mcdonalds and chowking; most of them walls ae painted red!
imagine eating a dark/light blue meat. i’d rather not think about it. haha.

and as for the bloggers’ evolution! yep! u got it! blogging helps make us online ppol learn from each other through our shared experiences. this, i think, is one of blogging technology’s dynamic effects on the communication process of the new generation. kewl!

    hapi new yir!

    apir!

[lolz, parang longganisa! hahaha]

and tina, thanks forrrrrr giving me an answer! :D

  7. natuwa naman ako that a seemingly serious reflection morphed into a n amusingly absurd dilemma about the hotdog! haha!

everyday experiences allow us to grow each day, albeit a slow but sure process. apparently for active bloggers like us, blogging is an everyday experience, hehe!

make the most of the rest of your 2006!

    bakit hotdog ung tanong mo?

    ….

tama nag babago tayo… pag nag bloblog… sa writing skills, tama tama… hahaha.. pero when it comes to me deins siguro haha!

  10. ang daming tanong na di natin alam kung pano masasagot… so many questions.so many facts ika nga.^^

  11. oo nga nag-eevolve tayong mga bloggers… nagiging mutant tayo at nagkakaroon ng superpowers. i can feel the power!

    happy new year!

Hahahaha!

Bat magkasunod kayo ni Karla, Rina?

  14. cute nman ung shape nya ha! hehe. :)

  15. you made me laugh. naguluhan na kasi ako sa last part. lalo na sa hotdog. kasi, nakakatawa yung shifting.

i mean, yeah,we bloggers evolve, influence each other and more. tapos, naging tungkol sa post mo last year, with your friends and pizza..then yung hotdog, tapos yung phone?

    natatawa tlaga ako.

  16. Hayok sa laman! Hahaha!

By the way, dude. I already left Blogger a few hours ago. I deleted my blog. I did it because I have to compromise something personal. I will still, however, frequent your blog. And leave a comment perhaps. Thanks a lot dude.

Disclaimer: This is not a farewell message. I’d still be around. Haha.Ü Peace.

  17. it’s shaped like that para mas madaling makain.. nyahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.. :)

anyhoo… i remember my first blog way way back noong 2002.. ala lang.. those were the days of really very random and sporadic posts.. nyahehehe

  19. Dexter – accdg. to the girls, nandidiri sila dun sa ibang hotdogs na talagang…. anyway.

  21. And my theory is that we, bloggers, evolve. We depend on other blogposts: we read – learning from their experiences, adapting their writing skills, or even getting ideas for a new post. We influence each other, and day by day – we grow better. We write better.

true! and i reckon that should be made a law – utakGAGO’s law. lol.

i even get new insights and new information through blogging. sometimes, nagugulat na lang ako kasi alam ko yung pinaguusapan namin sa school ay about something dun sa blog ni [insert blogger's name here].

as for the hotdog.. hindi ko rin alam kung bakit phallus shape sya… haha…whatever.

btw, have i asked you if you want me to host your blog. contact me if you like me to host your blog to get the other details.
