Exorcising Money.

WARNING: Materialistic post ahead. Please bear with me.

Given the opportunity to have my personal money this Christmas (and believe it or not, this is my first time to obtain such Christmas bonus), my mind was completely hanging in long wire-like threads; wherein I need to balance my insights and search for the wisest decision. A bag, or a wallet, or a cap, or maybe a polo shirt, or a perfume?

Of four siblings, three of us are gastador.

When I have money in my hands, there’s this instinct of spending it away with the blink of an eye. Hindi ganong tumatagal ang pera sakin. I hate Math, and I definitely hate budgeting. Come what may. I hate computing how much money have I spent in a day.

Yesterday, I went to the mall and treat myself with material things to somehow suffice my temptations. This would be the first time I’d buy my own clothes. I always depend on annual Balikbayan boxes. Plain t-shirts, and the boring designs.

Well, I still appreciate it. Iba pa rin kapag ako ang pumili.

So I bought a T-Shirt, a perfume for me. Another perfume and a wooden bracelet would be for the exchange gifts this December 19 – the last class day of year 2006. I realize that my mind is too focused with materialistic ideas. I’m as crazy as hell in picking the right shirt or smelling the perfume testers and sense what’s right for me.

It’s as if I’m in an episode of an all-time wish-granting show (maybe Wish Ko Lang would be better)! Though they say that money earned is sweeter. Good thing that at present, I’m not yet working for money.

I just hope that this epidemic would stop.

Anyway, the title is from ’The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ (which I’ve watched a while ago). It’s not horror. It’s comedy! The way the character was possessed – it’s funny! I’m actually imagining myself screaming at a public place like Emily Rose! And with the epileptic moves and the retina shaking! Haha.

It was a nice movie, though. The court scenes were great.

  1. buti pa kayo may christmas party. at very nice movie. the way the lawyer defended her client. the sentence was quite boring. you know what, money can’t buy everything. just like me, money can’t buy the happiness i am yearning—love from a father and a mother. so sad. what a gloomy christmas!

  2. money is power. when you have money, you feel superior. and when you don’t have any, you steal. haha. peace man.

  3. Yeah, it’s definitely harder to spend if you actually earned the money.

Yake it from me. Haha! Hahahahaha! Wala lang.

Habang may pera ka, go lang ng go! :P

  4. naku naloko na.hahahaha.parehas tayong gastador alam mo ba yun?!hehe..difference is..i haven’t been given money.how sad is that..:(

if i were in your shoes it would boil down to either shirt or bag.wala lang.haha.

    ingat.^_^

  5. it is harder to spend when you’ve busted your ass just to have it. but i’ve discovered another thing, once you have the money in your hands, and you just started spending.. oftentimes, you just can’t stop!! :P

  6. Kakawaldas ko lang ng pera kanina. BWAHAHAHAHA. *may kasamang kidlat*

Emily Rose! :) Haha. We watched that last year nung field trip namin. Although I didn’t watch that much because I was too busy wtih…never mind. :) ) May classmates din ako dati and pangalan nila Emily and Rose. Tapos lagi silang magkasama. *Share*. :) )

  9. gastadoooorr!! hahaha saming magkakapatid ako ang “pinakabudjeted” na tao, not to brag, id rather compute and compute that to examine stuff, like for example, a frog. and parehas tayo, hindi din ako bumibili ng sarili kong clothes, pumipili din ako from balikbayan boxes and minsan, magugulat nlng ako at may uwi sakin ang mom ko..

it true that money earned is sweeter, naranasan ko na.. I earned the money i needed to buy my guitar(half of it at least) chaka ang load :) ) try mo, kung tutuusin mas ok siya, kasi you’ll never know, baka mamaya biglang hindi ka na nila bigyan, its best to know how to budjet ;) lalo na ang “pagkakanbas” sabi ng mom ko.. may mga bagay na sobrang ganda pero sobrang mahal.. pag naghanap ka pa, may makikita kang hindi kasing ganda ng nakita mo earlier pero maganda naman, mura pa. oh db? :) ) may mabibili ka pa siguro sa extra mo, anyways.. ECONOMIZE. ahahah!

i never thought of watching “the Exorcism of emily..” kasi sabi nila nasasapian siya or lumalabas ung mga spirito ng 3am, usually gising pa naman ako nun, so.. ayoko matakot :) )

    merry christmas kebin pwet ;)

  10. you want nice shirts?

    http://teammanila.com

    they’re quite affordable too.

  11. This is the busiest time of the year for malls and shopping. It’s OK to spend once in a while. Buy it. Enjoy it. No regrets.

  12. Better make your shopping spree right now lest you’d be stuck in human and vehicular traffic. Kahit san sobrang sama ng traffic. Then again, we’re in the Philippines.

    Have a merry christmas, dude.

  13. With Benj’s comment, I’ve heard lots of rumors about that store (from Rens, Jhed and some other friends) rocks!!

Compare with imported or pa-sosyal type of brands.

Sayang, wala pa silang mga tinda na polo-shirts or polo or long sleeves or anything. Tsk.

  14. Jhed and Hener, I told you days ago na hindi nga ako makakasama sa Wednesday. Okay! Hahaha. Kulit.

  15. haha! parehas taung gastador. npk-ironic, finance major ako, di ako mrunong magtipid..hehehe tsk tsk :)

  16. Errr… I don’t have regular savings. If we have insufficient funds here, I have no choice but to give.

Overspending is contagious. Sometimes if you see someone spending a fortune, you kinda force yourself to do the same for the sake of complying with the routine that someone spent a fortune for you not to be frustrated. Insecurity, IMO. Disciple perhaps needs further nourishment.

Comic? You–I actually enjoyed the movie. It’s not funny. I love the exorcism portions and the trial arguments. Maybe because I seldom watch horror movies and appreciate only those who are bow-worthy.

  17. Neil? Isn’t it funny?

Okay. Whatever. But I still love the exorcism portions, especially yung nanginginig si Emily Rose, or yung naninigas na siya, or yung nanlilisik na yung mata nya!

How I love to stare at those eyes!!!

  18. halu. ^_^
akorin gastador. we this monthly stipend given by the school. and the moment that the money gets onto my hand, alam ko na biblhin ko. =)) nakakapossess ang pera haha. well, it’s reality, at least for me.

    ingat. :)
    ♥ nika

  19. I love shopping but I definitely don’t enjoy wasting my money for others. HAHA! XD Selfish. The 12 boxes of brownies were for my teachers, eh, as an honor student, may pressure na you should be kind to the teachers. Pfft. :| Kung hindi lang ako ‘model’ student, I wouldn’t waste our precious money for them. ;)

    I LOVE SHOPPING.
HAHA! XD Magkaiba tayo, ako, talagang hahalughugin ko yung mall for cheap finds bago ako bumili. ;)

Sa 19 din ang last day namin! Wohoo!

earned money is really sweet, lalo’t hard earned cash. matututo ka ring magtipid when you realize that in the future.

  21. anyway, i have shirts na rin from teammanila… graphic artist rocks!!!

  22. i didn’t watch the entire exorcism of emily rose. that was last school year, my classmate brought her laptop and another classmate brought a pirated copy of the movie. voila. we were watching-slash-hiding. until our socsci teacher came. haha. buti nalang natago agad. :)

we can’t avoid being materialistic. paano pa kaya ako. in a blink of an eye goodbye na ang php500 sa aking kamay. haha! :)

  23. had a reunion party with college friends yesterday. i had to buy for the exchange gifts. the SM department store in mega was pure chaos, banggaan at siksikan, parang yung MRT na sinakyan ko papunta dun. spent an awful lot, almost emptied my wallet. pero ok lang, to meet my friends once again was priceless.

^_^ hehehe. :) kaw ha.. hmmmm!

  26. Patty, buti hindi kayo nahuli!?!

Billycoy, yeah. They keep on telling me that Team Manila is great. :P

  27. Lea, mahal ang Brownies Unlimited no!!

    Ikay, what’s hmmmmmmm?

  28. i have to agree about the vanity thing. nako, ako rin gastador. though i now learned the value of money. hirap kapag nagtratrabaho ka na, lalo na kung kakarampot lang ang sweldo. hay. sana anak na lang ako ng haciendero.
