Seniority, and the Caste System.
I was once a Freshman who would simply go to the canteen with a friend or two, and would escape the frightening eyes of a Senior. High School was just Elementary. Rules are rules, and I need not to break them. With my first year of staying in High School, I am one of the best guys ever in the classroom. Clean hair, complete lectures, outstanding performances, and average grades.
Yesterday, I’ve seen a bunch of Freshman looking up to me like I’m their Goliath. Please, I don’t deserve those scared eyes just because I am tall and I am a Senior. When they saw my shining blue ID, they would go berserk and would steer away from me. Am I a monster? Well, Seniors ARE monsters when it comes to year-level-domination!

Being a Sophomore is too fast for me. It’s like wind that passed through my life, and as it zoomed through me – I felt nothing. Except for the fact that I loved Geometry and got 94 as a grade (for me, 94 was heaven). Except for being an honor student, and predicting that by Third Year – I’d be a student in the cream section.
Third Year is not the hardest level for me, though my sister would insist her opinion that being a Junior is so hard. No, it’s just a piece of cake. Chemistry is never hard. What’s hard is Trigonometry, I never appreciated those Sine and Cosine then those parabolas and the pis. 2pi is equals to 360 degrees. Arghh.
I enjoyed World History back at Third Year; well, I’m a total History lover who would want to study over the Punic Wars or Hitler’s attack to England, or even the Vietnam War.
I consider my Third Year as the turning point of my High School Life. From good to evil, from a not-so-famous student to a Glee Club, Art Club and YPS Member. Messy hairstyle (which was not recommended by the school), incomplete lectures, more fun than studying, more girls *wink* and more.
I never joined the COCC, ha-ha. I don’t care about them, actually. When I’d see Juniors wearing their placard that would brand them as COCC, I can’t help but to laugh on them!
Fourth Year came. The height of my High School Life. I started to be busy. I hosted programs, I became an emcee in Buwan ng Wika, 19th Annual Marian Songfest, and even the First Friday Masses! I became a star. If I would compare my Sophomore life and my Senior life, it’s indecipherable. My friends would say – ang tahi-tahimik mo dati, ngayon may pa-emcee ka pa dyan.
But four months to go and I’ll be leaving the campus. I’ll be retired with St. Paul College’s uniform. My plan is to thank each and everyone (not individually) who touched my life once and for all. I’d make a video! Yes. (Now, I’m crazy).
I thought, High School is creepy when I was in First Year.
It’s not creepy.
It’s worth crying. And they say that it is the happiest chapter of a teenager’s life.

tama.
hehe. wala ako masabi. nice post.
enjoy na kevin
ahihi!
dumaan lang
laboo! salamat na rin sa pag-cocomment.
haha halatang di mo binasa yung post! amp!
We all once became freshmen… those days are already over but despite of its being miserable in the sense of comparing them with being a senior, we still treasure those days when we were fearing those bully-type seniors who block our way, etc. It’s no nice to look back to those days… those happy days that made our high school life complete each day. Who are we to forget every silly moments we spent with are silly classmates and who are we alike to dump those mementoes regarding our crushes who made our smiles big every time we see them. Those days are soon to have its final bow. A curtain call is the best way to recognize each person who has touched our lives. Kudos!
Graduating seems to bring all our nostalgic juices back to bubbling.
It seems to me that a large portion of your post happens to be similar to my valedictory speech…
I can still recall the faces of all the fathers and mothers of my class and schoolmates with tearings falling from their eyes relating to my abominable pronouncement of the relationship of nuclear physics, Starstruck, and teenage life… (with standing ovation which I presumed not part of my agenda setting. ^_^)
Nostalgia. Nostalgia. Nostalgia. Gives me the chills.
Congrats, bro. Will be eyeing for your so-called ‘video’. Ha! Kiss mo!
Lol.
(Hey, you’ll be leaving the Philippine Republic next year? Hmmm… So much for taking the admission exams. Nyahaha.)
Yep. Correct. When I was in first year, I used to look up to those seniors.
Oh, I love chemistry and Trigonometry! Those were my favorite subjects back then. I hate world history, and I dunno why my grade was so high. =p
I never cried on our graduation. I just felt that it was not worth crying. Mas enjoy ko ang college life kesa sa highschool life.
ako pareho din kay eiss, i looove chem and trigo! haha, at ayoko rin ng history! ayoko lang talaga siguro magmemorize ng dates etc..
tama! high school is usually the happiest chapter of a teenager’s life..haha! pero yung college, masaya dinnnn!! haha
at least nagbloom ka parin, kaysa naman you remained a dk.
I was a late bloomer so I didn’t enjoy much in highschool. Being on the top class was the worst; I had those hypocritic backbiting classmates! Maybe if I was in the lower section that will be a major blast. Then, college came. I had friends that I could relate with my absurd thoughts. We were carefree and life was not miserable. It was cool to be in Fine Arts!
anyways.. sali po keo sa test ko about lead singers! how much u know about foreign bands..
Awww.
I was also like that back in Freshman year. I never went to the places of which are known as the so-called “seniors’ territory”, otherwise I’d be treated like hell; I never bothered to even have an eye contact with them in case I’d accidentally bump one of them at the hallways; and all that. Just back then when I hated high school life. I wanted everything to be carried by the wind and move away from me.
But as the Sophomore year started, it turned to be different. I was then busy mingling with friends from varied levels. Then came Junior, I so love Chemistry. I can still remember myself being the top scorer in every exam, thus paved way for me to be labeled as the “Father of Chemistry” in our school. LOL. Hehe.
I also love Trigo just the way I love Geometry. Postulates and Theorems are the bombs, baby.
Oh well, and now we’re at the summit of this highschool life. Truly, months away and we’ll be off in our Graduation march. Albeit the happiest days of a teenager’s life will soon bid its goodbye, another chapter will soon unfold containing more challenging and tough stuffs – the College life.
What more need I say but to savor every remaining moment this high school life has to offer, because for sure this only comes once in a lifetime.
[Sorry for this elongated comment. I somehow miss blogging and commenting lang. Haha.]
hay highschool. baliktad tayo, i hated chemistry and history and super loved trig. haha.
pero pareho tayo, super naging active ako nung fourth year ako. di ko alam kung anong pumasok sa akin pero that was enough to land me the top spot of the graduating class.. hehe..
i still kinda think high school is creepy. i mean, it’s creepy.
but its creepy-ness is worth all the fun.
high school is cool.
AND PLEASE DOOOOO POST THE VIDEO. ^^
i really like this post.

WOW! Lengthy comments from nostalgic bloggers who once licked SENIORity! Woot.
Love your comments. Yeah, I shall see if I could post a video. I’m not thaaaaat sure so please remind me. Haha. Baka makalimutan ko eh.
Cheers tayo! Tagay!
Maybe not.
Senior? Bangungot. Ang gusto ko lang e matapos na ang school year na to.
(Hapee bertdey sa akin! Haha. Sensya.)
Well sa case ko, HS Freshman eh star na agad ako actually hindi lang ako, yung batch namin yung Royalty ng school (kami ung mga students na pre-school palang eh gumagawa na ng pangangalan sa buong campus), we don’t give a damn on beating Seniors on Basketball Leagues, though di maiiwasan na talagang nasisindak kami sa kanila… Im one of our batch’s gem haha yabang ko noh! Pero that’s true.. Napaka-active ko nung 1st year…
Enjoy ur last 4 mos.
Well, lahat naman tayo gagawin yan. Kaso – we’re not given so much opportunity to do that.
Ewan ko ba. Time is Gold. Hahaha!
Francess (Principessa Sita) – HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Yebbah! It’s good to mention your birthday here, at least matatandaan at makikita ng mga commenters!
Just wait til you get to college.
ah.. high school… when I was in high school, I was the campus nerd. No wait, I wasn’t the nerd. I was the effing EIC. Like someone to be feared just like you. I don’t know why that is also… I guess a little bit of authority coupled with age (yes age, senior year means you’re getting old) makes you a monster to be reckoned with in high school.
to Heneroso, I think I’m greater than you were before. Haha – joke.
Yeah Benj, I’m waiting for college. It seems to have so much challenges.
Sorbie? Campus-nerd ha! Hahaha.
