The Analytical Problem.

Brown papers irritate me. Its coma-inducing texture, and the abhorring smell of the ink present in its surface. The words there seemed indecipherable. My brain would then manipulate the words, amalgamate the manipulate words with my knowledge and common sense – then translate it to my handwriting; thus creating a single, risky answer.

I just hate examinations; who bothers to love it, anyway?

I only have a day of resting and of reviewing; Sunday – and I failed to attend mass. I cleaned my aircon’s filter and wiped its interior – then enjoyed the cold atmosphere. I ate Tinola and can’t get rid of its clear soup. My Dad woke up and ate his breakfast; this seems to be our first time to meet in this whole week. We live at the same house, though our schedule opposes each other.

Tomorrow’s our examinations, and the single trick Utakgago does before exams is to sleep in the afternoon – and wake up at midnight (the day of examination). In my own theory, the mind needs rest at first to vacate the gray matter with the usual human wastes: problems, mind-numbing dilemmas, etc. The first thing I do when I woke up, I’d go on reviewing. My mind would become easier to program with the necessary stuff, thus giving me convenience in memorizing and analyzing.

But then, nothing beats listening to teachers every now and then.

I have noticed that for four years of stay in High School; I never had any perfect score in a certain test in an exam. I am good with Identification, better with Matching Type and a chart-topper at Essays, but definitely not in Analysis (and Application; especially when it comes to Math).

An example: English Unit Test – 2nd Grading.

Analysis (15 points). Instructions: Choose A if letter A alone supports the given statement. B if letter B alone supports the given statement. C if letters A and B support the given statement. D if neither A nor B support the given statement. Write the letter of your answer on the blank before the number.

11. King Minos imprisoned Daedalus and his son.

A. Selfishness.

B. Secrecy.

With the question, I answered letter C because in my own point of view – King Minos imprisoned Daedalus and Icarus because they knew the secret of their cursed son, Minotaur; a half-bull and a half-human. Hence, King Minos punished them with imprisonment to obtain secrecy with their unwanted child. Selfishness, because – erm, I dunno. Ha-ha. (Just read Daedalus and Icarus) I just think Minos sounds selfish.

What’s your answer?

The correct answer is A. It’s weird in my perception. The thing here is that – all people have their own conception about a certain matter. It’s analysis, and I think students do have their own way of understanding a story.

Another thing; teachers have their own analytical skills. Every test means a new analytical strategy. Bawat teacher, bagong analysis at iba-iba ang sagot. So, you mean – we need to READ their minds? Grrr.

Anyway, I’m not aiming for a perfect score. I just want to somehow please myself by getting a high score at analysis. So much for the complaint, wish me luck tomorrow!

Anyways, gudluck lit. Kaya mo yan! :) )

  2. Oist! Good luck on your exams.

I hate Analysis. You’re right, iba ang perception ng teacher sa student. Nakakalito. I hate Identification as well, I’m not so good with memorizing. Haha! Pero improving na ako ngayon. I hate Modified True or False. Sometimes, I know it’s flase, but I don’t know what the real answer is. Grrrr.

To make this all short. I hate taking exams. Pero that’s part of a student’s life, right? :P

    Again, good luck. ;)

  3. A yung sagot ko dun ah.. hehe

And a good teacher or professor should know how to defend what she believes is the right answer for that type of exam. Otherwise, walang maling sagot! hehe

  4. I hope your exams turn out they way you expect them.

Ang suggestion ko sayo when answering analytical questions, is using different perspectives. Try to answer it they way your teacher would. Gets?

  6. waw! yeah kaya mu yah! Matalino ka naman eh!

    ahihihi

  7. A pala sagot dun! akala ko C… oh well…

  9. hakhak! ang kulit naman ng mga ganung type ng exam… hello? hindi naman tayo pare pareho ng understanding, and it is also valid to have other understanding of that situation.

    yun muna, hehehe!

  10. i mean kaya nga ako nagcomsci or nagcomeng sana at hindi other course na may board, because i hate exams

  11. If that were me, I would have debated with the teacher until he/she succumbs to my wishes. Or at least I’ll get my point across, and even though they won’t want to admit that they’re wrong [because I'm always right - joke], they’ll know that I have a point.

Thank goodness tapos na exams ko. *Phew*

  12. I know you can ace your exams. You’re g33ky! Hihi.

Best of luck to ya. ;-p

  13. with Jigs, I’ve tried that trick already and it turns out na MOODY ang mga teachers when it comes to their decisions. iba-iba ang perception ng isang teacher sa iba’t-ibang araw.

    san ka pa?

with Still, tumpak. A good teacher must know how to defend her answer diba? They don’t want to expound further kasi sayang sa time.

    Baaad.

and lastly, with Talamasca’s comment – hindi ako geeky! HAHA. Asaness. :)

  14. Hey there!

I really miss reading your posts, hay kaso maraming deadlines akong mi-neet lalo na during my finals.

Anyhow, I’m back to the blog-o-sphere.

Analysis would be a piece of cake, if there were only two choices. :P

Anyway, I believe that you’d do well on your exams. :)

    Ingatz lagi!

  15. I hate analysis. But not as much as I hate essays. Lalo na sa Bio. :| I despise Biology essays.

:| All or nothing.

And sa exams mo, good luck! Study hard, and get enough sleep! Haha. :P Kaya mo yaan. ;)

  16. With the exception of those uber-geeks and nerds, who the hell loves examinations anyway?

I’m back. Getting tired of blogging.

  17. Honestly, I think the answer should be A. But as you said, this is analysis, so we have different viewpoints about it. Oddly, I like analysis. Ewan ko, siguro kasi I grew up with it.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t ace your exams, what matters is you have learned something. You go to school not for the grades but for the sake of learning. Malay mo, the moment you least expect having a perfect score, tsaka ka pa perfect! Labo ko. :D

  19. Hey dude!
    good luck sayo….
mag aral ka ng mabuti ahahahha
ako ren kailangan mag aral! hahahaha!
